PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS
Shopping for a photographer to take your pictures? While the photographers in our association are friends and work together, they are all separate businesses, too, and each business does work that is better in some types of photography over others. At least one of our photographers should be what you need. Here are some tips on evaluating photographers.
Shopping
by rates alone will cost you.
Booking the services of a photographer is an investment.
When you invest and buy stock, do you buy the cheapest shares on the
market or do you look at the performance of the company offering the
shares? If you want to get the most out of any investment, you MUST
look at the total value and potential and not just settle for the lowest
rates. You need to evaluate photographers by the quality of their work,
what your needs are, and what you are willing to invest. If you start
calling photographers and ask for rates, you will keep calling around
until you get the lowest rate, and then you may waste your money because
you will get what you pay for. Don't cheat yourself by going cheap.
Take the time to look at their work and use all your information to
find out what the work is worth to you.
Does
their work show range?
Can they pull off different looks with their photography?
If they do a lot of studio work, can they photograph location work,
too? Don't settle for pictures that all look the same. The larger the
range that the photographer does, the better they are and the more they
will be able to do for you.
Check
their references!
All of the photographers in the Round Table Photography
Association are highly professional, but it's always good to check out
their references and verify their work history in their portfolio. As
a rule of thumb, ALWAYS check the references of anyone you do not know.

The Tampa Photography Society, which is now our official name, is an organization featuring the photography work and the photographic services of some of the most talented and skilled professional photographers in the Tampa Bay area and Florida.
